When I started RIDEWELL, I knew it wasn’t going to be a huge money-maker. After all, the last thing I wanted to do was ask people to pay me to give them safety information — or my own musings 😉
However, I do put a lot of effort (and often my own funds) into writing, photographing, and generally maintaining this blog. And, unfortunately, I can’t spend all of my money on gear to review for this site. So, I obtain gear for review and support my blog in a few different ways.
One, of course, is selling RIDEWELL gear, and the others are sponsorships and affiliate partnerships.
Sponsorships
Here on RIDEWELL, you will never find content that I was paid to write. That’s a promise. This blog is exclusively mine, and here I share my own opinions and insights, not bought by anyone else.
That being said, I occasionally do review gear that has been sent to me by a manufacturer. Whenever this is the case, I will disclose in the body of the article whether or not the gear was sent to me, and whether or not we had an agreement regarding the content I would create about that gear.
Under no circumstances will I review an item of gear that I have not personally worn and road tested.
Affiliate Partnerships
I value my relationship with my readers, so I choose my affiliate partners very closely. I won’t become an affiliate for a company I wouldn’t recommend — period — and I aim to only work with companies that share similar values to my own.
Whenever I use an affiliate link in an article, I will disclose in the body of that article that I will receive a commission from that link. If there is no disclosure, then I’m not earning a commission.
